PLC / HMI PROGRAMMER

JOB DESCRIPTION
The PLC / HMI Programmer designs, develops, and implements automation solutions using PLC and HMI programming for our plasma cutting tables and robots. They are responsible for integrating new solutions involving PLCs, motion controls, industrial computers, and other control devices, while also optimizing existing systems. The PLC Programmer works closely with the engineering and technical service departments and participates in training and mentorship workshops to further develop software, mechanical, and electrical engineering skills.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program and maintain industrial machine controllers for specific needs (R&D)
- Design and document control applications
- Develop and execute test plans and scripts
- Program automation applications
- Participate in electrical design
- Perform functional testing and commissioning
- Perform any other related tasks tied to automation and robotics operations
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues
- Estimate the effort required to develop automation applications
- Write project and results reports
- Follow project design and execution methodologies
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the company’s robotics projects
- Collaborate with team members and perform follow-ups
- Support customers remotely or on-site
REQUIREMENTS
- College diploma in electrical engineering, software engineering, programmable electronics, robotics, or equivalent training
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English
- Experience programming programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Experience in a similar field (an asset)
- Experience integrating and evolving new systems
- Experience with real-time operating systems and real-time programming environments
- Knowledge of Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, Instruction List, and C#.NET programming languages (an asset)
- Strong interest in motion control systems (synchronized motion, robotics, CNC), PC and PLC applications, and mechanical and electrical systems
- Excellent general computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license
