JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mechanical Designer produces 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and models industrial cutting equipment. The role includes preparing bills of materials, adapting existing products to customer requirements, documenting projects, supporting production, tracking project timelines, and applying efficient engineering practices to improve departmental performance.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and equipment models
- Prepare bills of materials for mechanical parts and hardware to be ordered
- Apply work methods that contribute to the efficiency of the engineering department
- Document each project (technical drawings, assembly instructions, and option specifications)
- Release projects to production and monitor progress according to established schedules
- Adapt existing products according to customer requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Education in industrial drafting, mechanical engineering, or other relevant training
- Experience in a similar role (1 to 2 years)
- Experience in the manufacturing industry or a fabrication shop (an asset)
- Proficiency with 3D design software
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Genius (an asset)
- Knowledge of welded fabrications, structural steel, and machining
- Bilingualism (an asset)
